Midtown
This home for a very visible and socially prominent couple known for their many civic and social contributions is, as they requested, understated, contemporary, comfortable, and subtly reflective of Midwest vernacular architecture. Simple forms and materials, deep overhangs, and dramatic gable roof projections constructed of timber and steel protect the home from the blazing summer sun and heavy rainfall. The home surrounds a rear courtyard and pool overlooking an active creek and small meadow in the middle of town.
